Animation: HELP!!!!!!

Hey, I have an idea for a really good animated short (it's the only way I could do it) and it would all be symbolism and stuff (think The Wall). But, I have very limited resources. I'll be able to make all the art for it and everything, but my camera is crappy and won't do single frame shooting. I also don't have the money to be able to afford a new camera. Does anyone know any other things that I could do? Could I scan in all the pictures onto my computer, use a program to put them together, and record it to tape or something? Thanks!

Have you ever used Macromedia Flash?

A very good animation tool for "South Park" style animation!

Check it out and various websites.... you can use it for cartoons as well as flash intros!

I haven't personally used Flash, but I've heard there isn't a terrible amount of versatility (such as it's apparent low frame rate. It's great for web work but not much more than that.

oh, to answer your question-- yes, you could scan each picture...but that would be a fucking pain. Scanning each(!!) individual picture aside, you'd have to alter and crop each frame in some form of paint program so they all are the same size and THEN import and organize them into movie file.


the easiest alternative I'd say:

WHile shooting, have your camera hooked up to your computer's capture card (much like the way you can hook the camcorder to a VCR, and watch what you're recording on the TV screen). Instead of actually shooting on the camera, just grab the frame you want through the computer...carefully number and organize them, perhaps create some image sequence...but atleast the animation is existent in one form or another.
